19 pound catfish caught & released at Corona Lake
Big catfish are on the chew at Corona Lake. Mike Bradshaw of Corona caught and safely released a 19 pound catfish from a boat while using Whoop Ass catfish bait. Steve, Alex & Conrad Guerrero of Placentia ended up with 14 catfish totaling 33 pounds, with their largest catfish at 6 pounds. The Guerrero’s were using a mealworm/marshmallow combo fishing at the Dam. Forrest Mount of Modesto & Dan Bruetle of Foothill Ranch teamed up and caught 14 catfish totaling 31 pounds 8 ounces using raw steak at the south end of the lake. Warren Yan & Akshay Malhotra of Walnut caught 8 catfish totaling 23 1/2 pounds, their largest cat weighed in at 6 pounds 8 ounces using mackerel from a boat. Big limits of catfish at Santa Ana River Lakes
With the heavy weekly stockings, Santa Ana River Lakes is providing some of the best catfishing in Southern California. Anglers are having great success while fishing/camping the overnight 24 hour sessions. Dan Freeman & Tamie Clark from City of Industry caught 25 catfish for a total weight of 59 pounds 10 ounces. The two anglers heaviest catfish weighed in at 8 pounds 5 ounces fishing with mackerel soaked in garlic at the bubble hole. Walter Krupovich of Gardena landed a 11 pound catfish using shrimp at Levitz corner. Armando Negrete of Garden Grove caught 10 catfish totaling 23 pounds 8 ounces using mackerel and Sandy Beach Mike chow of Alhambra landed 8 catfish totaling 22 pounds using mackerel in the catfish lake. David Rochin from Team LGE caught 5 catfish totaling 16 pounds 8 ounces using shrimp in the catfish lake.
